Assignment One

Keywords

In my opinion a photograph is interpreted with feelings and therefore words. However the point of having a word captured in a photograph is not the same. Each and every person is understands the subject different as no one is the same. It is not about living the viewer to choose what to understand and feel by seeing an image, but to make them understand what the photographer intended to show.

A photographer could take a word and turn it into an image. And the viewer is seeing an image and turning it into words. In my opinion if a photograph is described by the viewer as the keyword used by the photograph in order to capture the photograph then...success!!

For the first Assignment we were asked to capture a series of photographs based on keywords.

A single word could reflect to the whole photograph where the elements such as color and shape will make the viewer to see what the photograph is aiming to show by a single word.

The subject of the photograph is not enough for expressing a word. The colors, the form the shape and the elements of a photograph have to be balanced in order to achieve the goal of showing a word.

The first word that i choose is CALM.

By listening to this word i imagine of places, water relaxed people and animals and a photo with no vibrant colors or a lot of moves by the subject.

The water, the reflation of the sun and the swans create a great combination as a subject that reflect to the word calm. Taking the position of the viewer i see this photograph and i feel relaxed.

Again the swan is expressing the word calm. It is a beautiful bird swimming in a lake where the combination of its white color shape and movement is taking the viewer to a journey where everything is peaceful and of course calm.

For me, being in a lake and watching the swans is one of the most relaxed and calmed feelings i get and for that reason i wanted to show the viewer what i was feeling at the time of taking this photograph.

The next word that i choose is Vibrant.

For me this word brings to my mind colors. The combination of different colors and shapes are giving to the photograph a more liveliness result.

My photograph which reflects to this word is showing vegetables with many colors and shapes.

The word vibrant is not described only as a feeling but as a adjective which describes a subject.

So i choose this photograph as the colors and the freshness of the vegetables for me are making the image to be described as vibrant.

Another word relevant to vibrant is the word playful.

For this word i choose to capture something that reminds me memories of my childhood. What can be more playful than children?

in order to choose this photograph i was having in my mind my activities as a child. Everyone as a child had crayons and the combination of the colours and the subject reminds me my childhood and how much i loved to play with my crayons.

The next photograph is reflective the word natural.

Natural is anything given by earth and anything not changed or modified by people. So my view of this word is vegetables and fruits. I intended to capture this image as it is in order to show the freshness of it with out using anything that is not natural. For that reason i prefer not to use special lights or effects just let the vegetable be as it is, Natural.

The word reflection could be capture by many creative ways.

Reflection is a subject that fascinates me as i feel that the reflective subject is another world. Like a parallel universe.

Reflection could be created by many things such as a mirror, light and shadow, or shiny surface. Moreover it could show the reflective subject distorted or in other color.

Having this effects, a photographer is having the opportunity to capture a very creative and interesting photograph.
